Creating the SEO Strategy:

Step #1: Create a List of Keywords

Choose 10 keywords and phrases that should be the main search phrases for Google and other search engines.

Organize the list by priorities from most to least important ones.

What I find helpful is to look at the suggestions on google search when you type in the search bar. These are great because they come straight from Google, people are actually googling them. Keep in mind that longer key phrases tend to be less competitive.

After this step, you can hand the list to me and I will analyze them on how competitive they are and what is the volume on them. From this analysis I can tell which are good to use on the website and in what exact format ( difference between: “women in the film industry”, “film industry with women”).

Step #2: Analyze Google’s First Page

After getting a list of keywords that are formatted correctly and knowing their volume and competitiveness we can build a strategy by looking up what websites appear on those keywords and phrases chosen and where do we stand in comparison to them.

Step #3: Create Something Different or Better

Knowing the competitors we will strategize on what is our leverage by creating something different or better in Search optimization of the website.

Step #4: Add a Hook

Implement backlinks.

This would be mostly your work on populating links on the websites of the partners or publications and internal links connecting pages of the website between each other.

Another interesting resource would be places like (https://www.helpareporter.com/) where you feed information and blogs published on the website straight into the hands of journalists and publicists.

Step #5: Optimize For On-Page SEO

Having the list of keywords and phrases we can start implementing them on the back of the website for each page’s titles and descriptions. However, in any content produced by Cherry Picks and published on the website, you will need to be mindful of using the same verbiage as well in written copy as well as in the names of the files of images and other files used ( the basic one is to use word “The-Cherry-Picks-… .jpg” in all images). In the names of the files please use “-” instead of the underscore.
